DePauw University Athletics

Founded in 1837 by the Methodist Church, DePauw University is a private, selective, coeducational, residential, undergraduate College of Liberal Arts and School of Music. Located in Greencastle, IN, the campus covers 695 acres, including a 520-acre nature preserve. Historic East College, built in 1877, is listed on the Register of Historic Landmarks.

DePauw offers forty-four majors in the College of Liberal Arts and six majors in the School of Music. Pre-professional programs are available in numerous areas of study, including law, medicine, engineering and ministry. With an enrollment of 2,300 students from 41 states and 27 countries and a student to faculty ratio of 10:1, DePauw faculty members are very accessible to students. DePauw has a 4-1-4 calendar with two 15-week semesters separated by a four-week Winter Term devoted to internships, study abroad or volunteer service.

The athletic teams at DePauw University compete in the NCAA Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

Recent Highlights:

  • DePauw's women basketball team claimed the University's first national team championship with a 55-52 win over Washington University. The Tigers finished the 2006-07 season with a 31-3 record and in possession of the NCAA Divsion III Championship trophy.

  • Women’s head basketball coach, Kris Huffman was named the Division III Coach of the Year by d3hoops.com and after leading the Tigers to school's first national team title. In 14 seasons as DePauw's head coach, she's compiled a 304-82 record. She was the Division III Coach of the Year in 2002 by D3News and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

  • The 27th-ranked DePauw 2006 men's cross country team won its seventh straight SCAC championship while the 2006 women’s cross country team won its fourth straight SCAC Conference championship and its sixth in nine seasons of SCAC competition.

  • The 2007 DePauw men’s swim team established a conference record with 1,055 points and, in turn, claimed the largest margin of victory in winning its third straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship.

  • The 2007 eighth-ranked men’s tennis team won their first SCAC title and have earned automatic qualification in the NCAA Division III Championships.
