Eastern University Athletics
Founded
in 1952, Eastern University is located on Pennsylvania's Main Line.
It is due west of Philadelphia and is situated on a scenic 106 acre
campus with three lakes, wooded walking trails, and protected wetlands.
Eastern is a co-ed, interdenominational, comprehensive Christian university
which offers a high-quality education that integrates faith, reason
and justice. Three thousand students are enrolled in School of Arts
and Sciences, Campolo School for Social Change, School for International
Leadership and Development, and School of Professional Studies. Eastern's
community includes over 100 international students from more than 30
countries, and at least 20% of undergraduates are minority students.
Five schools house Eastern's forty-six undergraduate and graduate degree
programs. The School of Arts and Sciences is a traditional residential
undergraduate learning community. The Templeton Honors College is a
classical studies school for academically gifted undergraduates. The
School of Professional Studies offers undergraduate and graduate degrees
to practitioners with extensive experience in business, information
systems and health care fields. The School for International Leadership
and Development offers undergraduate and graduate degrees to indigenous
leaders of organizations in the developing world, China and the Middle
East. The Campolo School for Social Change offers contextualized graduate
and selected undergraduate degrees in counseling, education, economic
development and urban studies. Additionally, Eastern offers joint degree
programs with Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Two new doctoral
programs have been planned for the university. Two already exist at
the Seminary. Majors include Accounting and Finance, Art History, Astronomy,
Biblical Studies, Biochemistry, Biokinetics, Biological Studies, Biology,
Chemistry, Communication Studies, Elementary Education, English, Environmental
Studies, French, History, Management, Marketing, Mathematics, Missions
and Anthropology, Music, Political Science, Psychology, Secondary Education,
Social Work, Sociology, Spanish, Studio Art, Theological Studies, Urban
Studies, and Youth Ministries.
The athletic teams at Eastern University compete in the Pennsylvania
Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division III level.

Recent Highlights:
- The Eagles Volleyball team won their 6th consecutive conference
championship in 2002 and made their fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament.
In 2002 the Eagles advanced to their second appearance in the NCAA
Tournament's Regional Final Four after a 32-6 season. Kate Adams was
named the 2002 PAC "Player of the Year" and to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region
team while teammate Erin Meredith was also named to the Mid-Atlantic
All-Region Honorable Mention team and was named the Conference "Rookie
of the Year" and Mid-Atlantic Region "Freshman of the Year". Both
Adams and Meredith were 1st Team All-PAC selections as well. Also
honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association was head coach
Mark Birtwistle being named the Mid-Atlantic Region "Coach of the
Year".
- Field Hockey advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time
in program history after winning the 2002 conference championship.
The Eagles lost in the first round of the NCAA's 0-1 to Wellesley
College.
- 2002 marks a new and outstanding accomplishment for the EU Tennis
program as junior Angela Sprock was named the PAC Women's Tennis Player
of the Year. Anglea was a perfect 11-0 in PAC play this year where
she held the #4 singles position.
