Greensboro College Athletics
Greensboro
College, a four-year, independent, coeducational college, was founded
in 1838, Greensboro College is located on 40 acres of rolling lawns
and trees in the College Hill Historic District of Greensboro, North
Carolina. Greensboro is one of three major cities that form the Triad,
a major metropolitan home to 1.13 million people and is part of the
fastest growing corridor in the country.
The College enrolls nearly 1,300 students from approximately 27 states
and 16 nations. The average class size is 16 and the student to faculty
ration is 14:1. Greensboro College offers 25 academic majors: Accounting,
Allied Health, Art, Athletic Training, Biology, Business Administration
and Economics, Chemistry, Education, English and Communications, Foreign
Languages, History, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Political
Science, Psychology, Religion, Sociology, Special Education, Sport and
Exercise Studies and Theatre. Minors are offered in Child and Family
Studies, Dance, Ethics, International Studies, Legal Administration,
Philosophy and Women’s Studies as well as most areas that offer
majors. A minor is not required to graduate from the college.
The athletic teams at Greensboro compete at the NCAA Division III level
and the USA South Atlantic Conference.

Recent Highlights:
- The Greensboro College Golf Team is ranked twelfth in the nation,
according to the most recent Division III GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll.
- The Greensboro College volleyball program is among the national
leaders in a handful of categories, according to the most recent data
from the NCAA statistical service. The Pride’s Lauren Smith
is first in the nation in hitting percentage; the sophomore boasts
a .532 hitting percentage. No other player in Division III is hitting
above .500.Teammate Katie Smith is 21st
- The Greensboro College men's soccer team is ranked seventh in the
South region among NCAA Division III teams, according to a recent
NSCAA poll.
- Each year the USA South presents its most prestigious awards by
honoring one male and one female as the Student-Athletes of the Year.
In July, Christopher Newport runner Aimee Gibbs and Greensboro College
golfer Jonathan Dudley were named the 2004 recipients of the Don Scalf
Award. Dudley was recently presented with the award at the recent
Greensboro College All-Athletes meeting.
- Frances Constantino, an outfielder for the GC Softball team, was
named to the CoSIDA South Region softball second team. Constantino
led the Pride in hitting (.398) and stolen bases (16) in 2004.
